Wolf Sighting in Crawford County

Name Michael D
Huron, OH 44839

Date of Sighting: Saturday, June 23, 2012
Time of Sighting: 12:30 AM

Crawford County
Describe the area and sighting:

The wolf was hit by a car and on the side of the road withering in pain. It appeared to have a broken back and couldn't move when we were right next to it. The animal was just before S Barker Lake Road on 72 headed out of Grayling. There are woods on either side with Shellenbarger lake on the side of the wolf. I called the police to tell them that it needed to be shot because of a broken back. I have a very fuzzy photo of it because of the flash on my camera and the headlights of the car. When we were driving to our room the other way, a cruiser passed us and was headed towards the animal. We called the police station the next day to see if it was a wolf or just a very large coyote. They put us on hold then came back with an answer. They said the officer didn't see the wolf and returned to the station. We drove past where we saw the wold the next day to try to follow a blood trail. When we got to the scene, there was a tractor raking and dispersing the gravel. I have a slight suspicion that the police found the wolf and covered up their tracks. You could spot the wolf from 200 yards away and it wasn't going anywhere. There is no way the officer didn't find anything.
